"No Candy" CD Release Tour

We are very happy to announce that our third album, No Candy is completed and will be available on our upcoming tour through Middle America in the coming weeks. Recorded at the home studio in Arkansas over the course of a couple of weeks last fall, the eight original songs represent The Vine Brothers' continuing evolution as an acoustic trio exploring new ideas and sounds while at the same time remaining fully rooted in the timeless musical influences that have preceded us. We had the pleasure of working with some of our most trusted musical accomplices to make the album all that it could be: from the sweet harmony vocals of Candy Lee to the mood altering vibraphone of Adams Collins to the thunderous funk of Anthony Ball's drums to the syncopated wall of percussion courtesy of Fernando Valencia. Each one of our guests gave just the right amount of shine to the foundation the three of us constructed on every song.

The CD will be available at all of our shows and will soon be available at most online outlets as well. Here's where you can find us in the next month:

7/8 - Mercury Lounge, Tulsa, OK 7/9 - Westport Saloon, Kansas City, MO 7/10 - Fayetteville Public Library, Fayetteville, AR 7/11 - Meteor Guitar Gallery, Bentonville, AR (with many guest musicians!) 7/13 - Maxine's Tap Room, Fayetteville, AR 7/14 - Barleycorn's - Wichita, KS 7/15 - Bodega's Alley, Lincoln, NE 7/16 - The Cathouse, Eureka Springs, AR 7/17 - Private House Concert, Springfield, MO

Spring Tour and More - March 2016

We've had a great time on the Spring Tour so far, and have a full weekend of shows coming up , bringing us to Baltimore, DC, and Long Island. Along the way, we recorded some videos in Arkansas with Richard Burnett and Jon Dooly, as well as a couple of just the Vine Brothers trio. Check them out on our YouTube page.

While in Binghamton, we got a great writeup in the Triple Cities Carousel: "The Vine Brothers are a trio that formed in the South, but its members are spread all across the country. They come together to form one of the best and most innovative bluegrass-Americana bands in the U.S. Their original material pushes the boundaries of Americana, with heavy influences from jazz and classical music, and their arrangements of cover tunes are on point: check out their cover of "The Ghost of Stephen Foster". A classic string band, the trio consists of a mandolinist, guitarist, and upright bassist. Their shows are always high energy and fun, sometimes including medleys of Star Wars tunes, and other times incorporating spacey jazz improvisations. They are always locked on to each other, and their love of playing with each other, and for others, spills off the stage. They arguably hold the mantle of Americana music." - See more at: http://www.thevinebrothers.com/#sthash.hMejCI7Z.dpuf

"In like a Lion, Out like a Lion" Spring 2016 Tour Update

So it has been nice being off the road resting up the past couple of months. Garrett has been doing his musical theater thing while working on his fixer upper farm in AR, Greg has been working on new songs all while keeping his cabin fortified through his first full winter in the Catskills, and Joe... well lets just say there is a small village in Columbia being funded by his usual winter time coffee requirements. We have also spent the winter finalizing parts for our upcoming 3rd CD with special guest artists including drummer Anthony Ball, vocalist Candy Lee, vibraphonist Adams Collins, and Cuban American percussionist Fernando Valencia. MN to MO Spring 2014

What a weekend! Playing at Venue 51 in Omaha with Prairie Gators Band and Dirty River Ramblers was a bill to be reckoned with. Cajun and bluegrass, great combo! Then up to Harmony Park to play at Revival! What a great festival! Kudos to the Wookiefoot family for such a joyful event. Still smiling, we went to Minneapolis to play at Acadia . Then Garrett Jones marathoned it back home. Now to rest up for Springfield, Mo...

"Low Rent" is here!

We are very excited to introduce to you our debut full length CD Low Rent. It is the fruit of a yearlong recording, re-recording, mixing, mastering process that began last January in the depths of the 2011 Kansas City SNOWPOCOLYPSE! The original Bread Sessions recordings (so called because we happened to come into an inordinate amount of various breads, which became breakfast, lunch, and dinner many times) were done in Lee's Summit at the home of Western Automatic front man Scott Devouton. Two weeks of nonstop writing, recording, mixing, snow, beer, rum, tobacco, and other various elements produced a trove of recordings which became the heart of what is now Low Rent. More tracks were added and tweaked and more guests appeared over the course of the Spring and Fall 2011 until the track list and mixes became finalized. We then had the CD mastered in Brooklyn, NY by Mitch Rackin as a final proverbial cherry on the top. Joe and I are grateful and thankful to all of the people who helped make this project happen, including but not limited to: Scott Devouton for housing the entire tribe and the inevitable madness that ensued, Garrett Jones from Fayetteville, AR and Papa Joe Credit for the bass, Scott Devouton and Reggie Scott for the drums, Amory Bottorff and Coleen Dieker for the violins, Ziggy from Dumptruck Butterlips for the accordion, Lisa Johnson for the sweet backing vocals, Antonio Perez and Jerry Lewis for the djembes, Mimi and Rocket for the bread, wine, meals, and multiple other forms of support, and Charlene for putting up with and supporting my absence so that all of this could happen. The CD will obviously be available at our shows, and soon will be available online for purchase and download. We hope you dig it! -Greg
