Biography:

Rico Vibes serves up positive, high energy Latin Jazz sounds, blending funk, Latin and jazz rhythms with original tunes and modern arrangements of Jazz standards and Latin Jazz classics. Rico Vibes features five musicians deeply rooted in the New York Latin music scene, branching out to interact with and perform to all types of eclectic and open-minded New York audiences ready to groove to the band’s unique rhythmic and smooth sound. Rico Vibes is led by Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s Tommy Mattioli, “El Gallo Italiano,” a vibraphone virtuoso and renowned Salsa and Latin Jazz band leader in New York City.

TOMMY MATTIOLI – Vibraphone, Leader, Composer, Arranger. Tommy was raised in Madison, Wisconsin, and has had drum sticks in his hand since
he was a child. He picked up his first pair of mallets at the University of Wisconsin, and
went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in percussion with an emphasis in Jazz Vibraphone. His New York experience has led him to carve out a unique niche as a jazz vibraphonist with a Latin sensibility, creating a foundation for varied arrangements, rhythms and performances.

As a deeply rooted player in the in the New York City salsa scene, Tommy’s Latin jazz combos and original compositions signify an evolution and honest desire to interact with and perform to various audiences.
