Joseph Madziyire, familiar to many in the Zimbabwe music industry, was born in July 1988, the second son of a pastor based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second city. The artist has always had a passion for music and, as a child, dreamt of owning a music recording company. He took the first steps towards his dream at the tender age of six, when he began to play the piano. He went through junior and senior school in Bulawayo, before moving to Harare to complete high school.
At fifteen, his father purchased home recording equipment for him, having noted the talent and desiring to nurture it.
In 2005 he began to produce music professionally and worked with Ngoni Kambarame, Kudzie Nyakudya, Sabastian Magacha, Mahendere Brothers and Macdonald Chidavaenzi (aka Macdee) among others.
To advance his career, Joseph moved to Sydney, Australia in 2007, where he studied Creative Arts majoring in Music and Film. He set up a studio in Australia – there his knowledge in music production increased immeasurably. In this same year he began working on his first album.
In February 2008, Joseph met the music legend Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, during his Sydney tour. Tuku was impressed by the young musician’s talent and offered his help in recording one of the tracks. On the 19th of August 2009, the album ‘Born to Worship (Usamukanganwe)’, was released. The album is a fine work of art, featuring Oliver Mtukudzi, Bethen Pasinawako, the late Sam Mtukudzi, Macdonald Chidavaenzi and Jordan Mapfumo.
Currently, Joseph is working on his music production company: Extol Production House. Extol speaks of most high praise to God. Joseph is 22 and is also the Founder member and Spokesman of Zimpraise Trust, a group that trains, ministers and empowers the young generation in schools and orphans living with H.I.V & AIDS. He lives in Harare Zimbabwe.
