Biography:

Formed in 1987, Bazooka Joe played regularly all over the South as well as completing three national tours before disbanding in 1991. The band released two records, 1988's "Pastor of Muppets" followed by "Send In The Klowns" in 1989, and also appeared on several compilations. Most notable among these were Maximum Rock'N'Roll magazine's "They Don't Get Paid, They Don't Get Laid, But Boy Do They Work Hard" and Very Small Records' "What Are You Pointing At?." Individual members were instrumental in the early punk rock scene in Myrtle Beach and South Carolina, bringing the first touring punk bands to Myrtle Beach and releasing the first punk record in Myrtle Beach. The band was known for their energetic live performances as well as their outspoken political stance. Bazooka Joe's members went on to play in many of the area's favorite bands, including Dead Cut Tree, Joybuzzer, the Independents, Thunderpussy, I,God, Sqwearl, the Strike-O-Matics, the Wet Teens, and the Old Scobes. Bazooka Joe regrouped several times over the years, and after a twelve year interval played again at the annual Rockers Reunion this past Thanksgiving weekend. Now, with plans to record new material and re-release the older recordings, Bazooka Joe is BACK! At least until someone breaks a hip.
