Biography:

Hailing from Northern California with an impressive 20 years behind them Top Shelf is gearing up for more music and more touring. Their years of hard work and dedication landed them on tours and in studios all over the US and abroad and cemented them as one of Nor Cal’s premier Rock Reggae bands. Top Shelf has 4 studio releases to date and is currently working on the fifth album now. Coming from the punk and reggae roots of Sublime, Top Shelf’s sound quickly morphed into a California Reggae blend with a unique but familiar style and lyricism which provides reflection, motivation and distraction. The overwhelmingly positive vibes emitted from this group of musicians is present in their live performances and can be felt throughout their energetic set. With the addition of live horns, keys and harmonies Top Shelf’s sound is finally rounded out and ready to move the masses once again on a stage near you!

Press:

“So one must give up the respect for New Kind of World by Top Shelf, this album must be without doubt one of the best releases this summer and an album that should be spun more times that a spiders web this August.”
Steve Sheppard - One World Music

“Top Shelf’s “New Kind Of World” is one of 2024’s best reggae rock albums. The Northern California band uses its music, lyrics and vision to help inspire a better world.”
CB - Daily Reggae

“When roots reggae meets heavy rock, Top Shelf’s The Sound is born. The guys did an awesome job at making the perfect blend of reggae rock when making this album which stands as a great musical showcase of this young band’s talent. The album is filled with compelling guitar solos, reggae inspired melodies, and a relentless groove. And did I mention a bad ass hidden track? ... The entire album is charged with high frequency guitar solos, sprinkled with evocative lyrics and accentuated with airy-lighthearted tracks...”
Mariana Norcalchika Rojas - The Pier

"The first noticeable thing about this band is that they’re full of energy right from the start, but as they progress, they take time to slow things down as well. The vocalist has an amazing voice, sounding a bit like Robert Smith of The Cure, but playing to some nice reggae. Their music was uplifting and seemed to speak about stuff that actually occurs. In fact, it seems poetic."
SD Liz - NUG Magazine

“To say that all of my expectations about a Reggae band were blown away would be an understatement. The guys in Top Shelf could not have been more down to earth, peaceful and nice if they tried and it was a very special night for me on top of this awesome music!”
Twin Cities Radio

“Ukiah’s own Top Shelf put on a high energy show that ranged from light beachy riffs to some harder beats. The lead singer has a rich voice and maneuvers some fast, toung-twisting lyrics. The whole band has a cool rock star presence.”
Monica Krause - NBC Bay Area Mornings

“Top Shelf is the premier rock reggae group of Northern California. With 6 years experience as a band and a freshly dropped full-length album, they are exploding all over the California music scene. From SF to SD you’ll find nothing but heart-felt music and positive vibrations from Top Shelf.”
