Biography:

DJ Pepsi, currently a DJ with the SABC's Radio 2000FM, entered the music scene at a young age. Influenced by his older brother Oskido of Kalawa Jazmee, he soon developed his own style. DJ Pepsi started playing in Hillbrow clubs such as Arena and Razzmatazz in the early 90's. He grew as a deejay and very soon started playing nationally.

When Joburg's ground breaking radio station Y-fm started broadcasting, DJ Pepsi co-hosted the Phat Joe Show on Fridays. He released his first album, Sexy Summer Grooves Vol 1, a House compilation in 1999. That was followed the next year by Vol 2.

DJ Pepsi began playing Ibiza in 1998, one of the first SA deejays to do so. He opened the doors for many more to follow.

In 2000, DJ Pepsi discovered songstress Tamara Dey, releasing her debut hit EP "What am I to do?" and later her well received album "First Lady". He later discovered the current Kalawa hit maker Professor.

The iconic Spring Day Music Explosion was incepted by DJ Pepsi in 2001. Hosted alongside DJ Mahoota, the tour is now in it's tenth year and has grown to twelve shows. In 2011, it included several international acts for the first time, amongst them Tortured Soul and Cabo Snoop.

DJ Pepsi's "Lyrics", his third album, was released in 2002, followed by "Bumpa Tsotsi" in 2004. The hit single "Come fetch your wife" was off this album. DJ Pepsi's last album release was "Royal House Collection Vol.1", which included the hit "Pepsi's Revenge".

DJ Pepsi released his fifth album entitled "Royal House Collection Vol 2" in August 2012. It received a Metro FM Music Award for Best Dance Album and has been nominated for an MTN SA Music Award for Best Dance Album. This celebration of the best in vocal house music comprises original tracks featuring a variety of artists and musicians from both the House genre and beyond. This includes Byron Stingley (formerly with Ten City and "That's the way love is" fame), Monique Bingham (Blue Six), Dr. Malinga and Magesh from TKZee. It also has several surprises in the form of jazz diva Judith Sephuma and Afrotraction. It is available at all reputable music stores nationwide as well as iTunes, Vodacom Live and MTN PLay. The first single from the album, Pride (featuring Monique Bingham) is already on high rotation on most major commercial and community radio stations. The video "Pride" is also out.

The next singles recently released are "Forever" (featuring Afrotraction) and "Mama" (featuring Byron Stingily). Remixes for these tracks as well as videos are in the making. DJ Pepsi also remixed the newTortured Soul track "Dirty". He will be performing in Canada and the UK in May.

DJ Pepsi presents on Radio 2000FM, an SABC station every Friday between 8pm and 10pm. The show, entitled "Royal house Fridays" showcases mixes of old school house and R'n'B, as well as the latest in vocal House. Radio2000FM is also available on the internet on www.radio2000.co.za
