Biography:

Mica Javier – a home grown recording artist, model, dancer & entrepreneur – finally completes and launches her highly anticipated debut album entitled, Dreamer, executive produced by herself, Timbaland Productions, and distributed by Homeworkz Entertainment Services. The album is an original body of work written and recorded over the course of a transitional period between New York and Manila. Dreamer is a 12-song modern Pop-R&B record infused with catchy melodic toplines over synth and drum-heavy beats that are sure to redefine a modern Filipino’s take on OPM.

Dreamer includes a chart-topping roster of songs including Awit Award nominated single, “Heart Song” and No.1 hit “Tonight” featuring the King of R&B, JayR. Dreamer also boasts two original tagalog songs; “Sa Iyong Mga Mata”, a mid-tempo Pop-R&B record that tickle the fantasies of romantic hopefuls, and “Atin Lang”, a ballad that touches on the recurring theme of love, loss, and longing that Filipino masses resonate with. As a tribute to her roots and one of her biggest OPM inspirations, Mica includes her own version of OPM classic, Yakap Sa Dilim, by the legendary APO Hiking Society, upon approval by her uncle, Danny Javier, and of course the permission and guidance of Jim Paredes. Undoubtedly, the Dreamer album exudes a positive, inspirational and fun-filled vibe, that aims to elevate the tastes and lifestyles of Filipino audiences across the board.

Mica Javier started her career as a fashion and commercial model as a teenager, appearing in print ads, editorials and TV commercials in Manila including Colgate with Maxene Magalona, Whisper with Kim Chiu, and Red Mobile with Derek Ramsey to name a few. She often appeared in magazines like Chalk, Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health, Mega, and Metro, and has been featured on Preview, Esquire and Pulp. While residing in New York City for a few years, Mica was was signed to BMG and MMG for commercial modeling, where she booked NY Fashion Week shows, a Hugo Boss ad with Jared Leto, and a Verizon Wireless print campaign which landed her on full-size billboards all over Manhattan. She appeared on TV shows like Gossip Girl, How To Make It In America, and Jimmy Fallon. She has also been featured in music videos of artists like Chromeo, Rico Blanco, Spongecola and Charice.

Despite her work as a model, Mica’s natural urge for creativity led her to pursue her first love of singing, dancing and performing. In 2010, Mica was signed to Timbaland Productions in New York, where her professional music career begun, as she was mentored and developed by some of the top music producers in the U.S., and with whom she was able to record and land a song entitled 3000 Light Years on TV shows Glee and Dance Moms. It was through the Timbaland camp that she was hand-picked to be the opening act for her idol, Jennifer Lopez, during the J.Lo Dance Again World Tour held at SM MOA Arena in Novemeber 2012. Upon moving back to the Philippines in 2012, Mica collaborated with JayR on a duet they wrote together entitled Tonight, and was able to release two solo singles that climbed radio and video channel charts, including her album’s title track, Dreamer featuring American rapper, Shawn Chrystopher. She has been nominated for various music awards including MYX Music Award for Favorite Urban Video for Tonight, Urban Music Awards for Best New Female Artist and Best Collaboration, ALIW Award for Best New Female Recording Artist, and most recently an AWIT Award for Best Performance by New Artist for Heart Song. Her unwavering drive and persistence has caught the attention of other international music industry veterans such as Chad Hugo of N.E.R.D, who included her song “Joy Joy Joy” on his most recent mixtape with MSSL CMMND, Why Fight the Space Age, in March 2013. Most recently, Mica, along with JayR, were invited to open for Chris Brown during his concert in Manila this past July 2015. With a background in contemporary dance, modern jazz, and hip-hop, and a singer-songwriter, acoustic guitarist at heart, Mica’s roster of danceable and melodic stadium pop-R&B records has really begun to make waves.

In 2014, Mica also focused on becoming an entrepreneur, developing her own line of high quality yet affordable fragrances with a brand she created called MNL. MNL consists of a collection of 14 different EDT scents for men and women, and was featured on Kris TV in September of 2014. MNL now has stand-alone kiosks in various malls across the metro, like Fisher Mall Quezon Ave., Star Mall Mandaluyong, and Sta. Lucia East. Mica Javier is an all around artist that enjoys the process of creating, inspiring others, and contributing to the betterment of the lives of her fellow Filipinos.
