Biography:

"Big City" Brian Wright - Airline Pilot & Country Music Singer/Songwriter

Big City Brian Wright dreamed of only two things in life...flying airplanes and making country music. That's what he loves and that's what he does. The big industry route of making music for the masses is NOT what he does. Brian has an unwavering dedication for revealing the truth in his lyrics, good or bad. "I refuse to use an idea or a rhyme because it fits or sounds cool. And what I say sometimes leaves the pros questioning my choices. But, what I do is real and reality is not always perfect."
Influenced by the style of honest, story-telling artists like Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson and even his uncle, Alan Jackson, Brian blends the musical styles of Waylon Jenning's raw, hard-driving twang with Bob Seger's addictive melodies and timeless, clean arrangements into a modern, power-country performance of songs written almost entirely by him.
All music is produced by Multi Grammy Award Winning #1 Hit Producer, Matt McClure (Lee Brice). Big City Brian Wright's Cross Country Band is made up of A-List band members with a 30+ year career of making hit records in Nashville.
Big City's first radio release was accepted to radio and "Summertime" beat out 7 previous #1 songs in country music, making it Grand Champion in K-102's Summer Smackdown!
His second release, "Daddy's Truck" has garnered him more radio plays and thousands of YouTube views and made traction for his next single release, a cover of the Waylon Jenning's classic "Lonesome, On'ry and Mean." "Daddy's Truck" was featured in LMC Truck magazine and Week 48 of Talent Watch with an estimated 80 million viewers worldwide. Cheyenne Country TV took notice and invited him for a double tv interview and airing of both official music videos, set to be shown in this year, all viewed by millions through cable and internet television.
Brian has even gained world attention, as "Honkytonkitis" became Album of the Week in three terrestrial stations in the South of France in the first 2 weeks following release. He has since been picked up by another three major market stations in Australia and is getting attention in Germany, Norway, Italy and Canada. Even the crowded Nashville market realized the uniqueness of his style of country music and has begun playing the new single. This opened doors and landed him a spot at the world's largest country music festival, CMA Fest, held every year in June in the Music City. Brian's most recent release, a cover "Lonesome, On'ry and Mean" was included in Cumulus iHeartRadio's New Artist Integration and reached #71 on the digital music charts, almost unheard of for a truly independent artist, and introduced his music to 128 stations, reaching 240 million monthly listeners. Big City Brian Wright has accomplished all of this on his independent, almost solely self-run label, Big City Records.
Big City Records targets secondary reporting stations, specifically those willing to play independent artists and who place a focus on a quality, DJ-assisted music selection and NOT just following the trend or command of corporate leadership.
Brian creates songs in the traditional ways of writing and recording while Big City Records uses cutting edge marketing and promotion in today's competitive musical landscape.

“Big City Brian Wright’s debut album, “Honkytonkitis” is country to the core. “It’s real songs about real life the way country music was intended.” “Honkytonkitis” fill the shoes of country traditionalists while the rest of the genre strays barefoot.””
Sean Stroh - Coming Up Magazine

“iHeartRadio selected Big City Brian Wright's "Lonesome, On'ry and Mean" for its New Artist Integration for the month of June! The single will be played 3-4 times daily on over 160 stations for 240 million monthly listeners!”

“Big City Brian Wright (not to be confused with Texas singer/songwriter and Sugar Hill artist Brian Wright) earned his ironic nickname due to his small town roots, but the Nashville-based Wright has big time connections as the nephew of Alan Jackson. This debut has a retro '80s and '90s feel with a touch of outlaw country to mostly good results.Wright is at his best on country ballads, most notably "The Gone" (written by his brother Adam Wright and Jay Knowles) and a cover of Rodney Crowell's "Shame on the Moon" on which his vocals recall Conway Twitty. Knowles also contributed "I'm in Nashville" in which the singer talks of the impact of the Music City on his life ("I thought I could get gone, find me a new song/Somewhere down the road/But, I'm in Nashville/Everywhere I go"). Wright's original "Better Half" might have been a hit for Twitty in the '80s. "Honkytonkitis" is a promising debut.”
Robert Wooldridge - Country Standard Time

“I think we’re at the same breaking point again that we’ve probably hit 2 or 3 times over the last 50 years. Right now, we have a lot of similar patterns and lyrics in pop, hip-hop oriented music with some country instruments added to make it sound country. Fans don’t like it, but that’s what we’re being force-fed by the dominant labels and radio. With the breakout of artists like Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, we’re starting to remember what real music is. The fans are responding.”
Dan Harr - Music News Nashville

“Wright: I hear folks say the same thing a lot. “Country music has story songs. Songs I can relate to. Songs that make me remember stuff about my life.” That’s so true. That’s because it was originally created to do just that. It was written by folks during heartache, pain, good times, funny times, whatever. They lived it and wrote about it. There was no backing beat or instrumental tricks to make it sound good. It was lyrics to one or two instruments. When you hear them sing it, you have no choice but to believe it. Because it’s the damned truth! And that’s what the good stuff does, it doesn’t go out of style.”
Patrick Hickey, Jr. - Review Fix

“There is a void that needs to be filled. My friend George Jones sang, “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes.” That’s my job for the rest of my life.”
RJ Frometa - Vents Magazine
