Michael Cordet, (pronounced “Core-day”) was a Lead Vocalist/Frontman, 1980 – 1995, playing in the greater Phoenix and Los Angeles areas. Born in Hollywood, California.
Cordet’s most notable project was fronting the “Michael Angelo” band. The lineup featured guitar legend Michael Angelo Batio (guitar), Guy Mann Dude (guitar), Allan Hearn (bass), and Paul Cammaratta (drums). M.A.B. was courted by many large record labels, and even negotiated some deals, but ultimately the band broke up before any kind of suitable contract was reached. M.A.B. did however record a number of demos, some engineered by Producer Toby Wright, of “Alice in Chains” fame. A few tracks from those sessions later ended up being featured on the “NITRO, Gunnin’ for Glory” album”.
Prior to his time with the M.A.B., Cordet, was the original lead vocalist and one of the founding members of the band “Tuff”, however Cordet left Tuff within the first year due to a direction change.
After his time with "Michael Angelo", Cordet went on to write and record with a number of Los Angeles area musicians including Dio’s Craig Goldie, and guitar virtuoso, Darren Housholder. He also did one live show as a fill-in singer with former "Steeler" member Rik Fox's band "Thunderball", and was offered a permanent position, but declined. Cordet also did several short stints and auditions with many other bands including George Lynch’s “Lynch Mob”, and a post-Axl “Hollywood Rose” with Chris Weber.
In 1990 Cordet focused on a writing project with Guitarist Darren Housholder for more than a year under the name "Native Tongue". The band included "Vinnie Vincent Invasion" drummer Andre LaBelle. Householder committed to doing three instrumental albums with Shrapnel Records, as well as joining "Love/Hate", and was unable to continue with Cordet. Cordet took the band name and went on to join a band hailing from Louisiana, which became Los Angeles area's "Native Tongue".
From 1991 to 1995, Cordet fronted “Native Tongue”, who had a very large Southern California following as well as a world-wide fan base, selling their self-titled E.P.s via Mail Order. This success was a result of being featured in “Metal Edge” magazine. Unfortunately, Cordet left the band due to a difference of opinion as to the future direction of the band. This ultimately resulted in a long term sabbatical from the music industry.
In 2011 Cordet came out if “retirement” to reconnect with Darren Housholder to revisit material started back in 1990 as well as new material. The Project is called "Old School Disciples", and has guest appearances by Ray Luzier of "Korn", and Glen Sobel from "Alice Cooper" on the drums.
Currently, Michael contributes to writing/recording projects as a hired gun, as well as his own several personal projects, both by himself and with Friends.
Most recently, Michael has formed the project "Kill-The-Corrupt" with Rodney J. Nicholson, guitarist of 80's Thrash band, "Phantasm".
