Jemma Danielle Krysa, born 31st May 1987, is an acoustic folk singer songwriter from the rural mining village of Tairgwaith, near the Black Mountains in South Wales. Jemma’s unique voice has a captivating velvet warmth and together with her emotive lyrics and beautiful rhythmic melodies, Jemma is proving a big hit on the musical circuit.
Jemma discovered her musical talents very young and wrote her 1st song at the age of 13.
2 years later, Jemma burst onto the public scene entering talent competitions and local music festivals. Jemma was a finalist on the BBC Wales ‘Just Up Your Street’ television programme and at the age of 16 years old she was invited to D.A Records, Cardiff, to record vocals for a children’s animated show called ‘The Nimbols’. The German cartoon went on to be a massive success and Jemma’s title track ‘Free Ride’ hit the top of the German music charts and held the number 1 spot for 3 weeks. The show was sold to 35 countries worldwide.
At the age of 17, Jemma recorded her first full album of original material titled ‘Me’ and performed her set all over the UK to great critical acclaim.
After playing around Wales at the cafe’s, pubs, clubs and festivals – supporting acts such as Amy Wadge, Mal Pope, Kirsty McGee and Lorraine King, Jemma then felt the need to travel and made the brave decision to move to Los Angeles at the age of 18. Jemma performed gigs in Hollywood – where she supported Delores O Reirdon from the Cranberries and regularly busked along Venice Beach, Santa Monica and also San Francisco. It was in L.A that Jemma decided to embrace her artistic passions and had a full traditional Japanese bodysuit tattoo. She has modelled for magazines and has featured in tattoo conventions and museum exhibitions around the world. She also appeared on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ to show her spectacular artwork.
After nearly 2 years in America, Jemma moved back to Wales and has since been gigging all over the country. She is regularly heard busking on the bustling streets of Swansea.
Jemma continues to build a loyal following and regularly features on local and national radio stations. Jemma’s online website is very popular and all of her material is available online for sale.
Jemma is currently writing new material, working on her new website and arranging bigger gigs, venues and festivals for next year. This young lady is definitely one to watch out for!
