Born in NZ to and Irish mother and Scottish Father, Music was part of her life. Married, divorced re married to her soulmate with 7 children, plus 2 step children she is the Loretta Lynn of Country in the Southern Hemisphere. Her Beautiful and powerful Vocals are truly to be cherished, her timber tones leave you wanting more. Her love of Country Music is inspirational, being totally Country. Marie doesn’t just sing the song, she lives it!!! She has worked tirelessly to promote herself in a tough market, knowing only too well she is up against many young artists.. It has paid off. Hours of Practice and gritty determination, she proves the point that age is no barrier to her talent and has gained thousands of strong fans around the country and overseas.

Bitterweeds is everything a great country album should be, second to none playing, intelligent material you can relate to, capped with a voice as smooth as silk. Via 15 tracks ranging from ballads to a splash of country rock and a little bit of bluegrass. MARIE HODSON proves that you don’t need to sound like TAYLOR SWIFT or SUGARLAND to be relevant in 2012. In fact. Marie proves sometimes the older way of doing things really is the best. Bitterweeds oozes country tradition so much so that it serves as a breath of fresh air. Tracks like “The part I don’t understand”, For Cryin Out loud and “Do you want love with that” are Classic Country the way it was meant to be. Lyrically, the album weaves tales of love, longing and life. Special mention must be made of a pair of duets with ROSE CARLEO and DOUG BRUCE. Thank you Marie for reminding me of what first drew me to the genre.
