OCHUKO’s Profile O.CHU.KO (pronounced or-chu-ko)
Ochuko’s love for music started at the tender age of 9yrs old which launched him early into the world of music. He nurtured his R&B passion while in Babcock University where he got a degree in Business Administration. During his undergraduate years in B.U, he joined – JOOWE (which represents the first letter of the group members names Junior-Ochuko-Obi-Wole-Ese), an Acapella group of 5 young men with two of his brothers and two close friends. The group performed at all major campus events and won an award for best new group on campus.
A uniquely gifted vocalist and performer, Ochuko decided to pursue a career in the private sector in 2008, where he built on his experience as a Marketer and Human Resource specialist . During his stint in the private sector, his passion for music was fuelled through his role as one of lead Psalmists in the House on the Rock (The Rock Cathedral) choir which guided him in embracing his calling more gracefully with mentorship and advice from various gospel artistes such as Eric Arubayi, Glowreeyah Braimah, Sammie Okposo, Onos Ariyo and a host of other amazing ministers.
In July 2010, he participated in Project Fame West Africa and emerged one of the top 6 out of tens of thousands of people that auditioned for the show all over West Africa. During the Project Fame show, he wowed audiences with his sultry voice and professional performance, while building a loyal following.
The Project Fame platform projected him to the limelight and marked the evolution of Ochuko as not just a singer, songwriter but also as a voice set to take Gospel music to new heights.
Ochuko has since the release of his debut single in 2011 come out with 4 singles some of which are titled True Love, and his Love song Ama ka shey Mena (My Angel) which he dedicated to his Angel, Friend and Wife Nwamaka Chimnedum Sifo (he also calls her Amy)
Furthermore, ochuko released his first gospel song titled "The Reason I Live" alongside his Christmas reggae cover version of “Oh holy Night” which also premiered in December 2013.
Ochuko has since 2012 gone through a number of vigorous challenges that can only be described as life changing which started with the loss of both his sisters and parents which was a significant blow to him and his growth as an artiste. His career evolved around the love and support of his immediate family, but as God has put it in his heart to push forward and stand firm to his faith he remains ever resilient and steadfast to his path and is determined to make his music not only heard but accepted by his fans around the globe. Presently, his last single 'The Reason I live' has been getting a somewhat underground recognition and is being acknowledged as a message to abide by and is currently number 15 on the reverberation charts in Houston Texas, Missouri city where he currently resides with his beautiful wife and best friend.(Amy)
The Album which is to tentatively have 8 power driven tracks is proposed to embody and also encourage others out there to hold fast to their faith and Gods purpose in their life.
His second debut single (Which has been long time coming) towards the soon to be named album is titled ‘Forever’ and is an Afro Pop blend that acknowledges the many great things God has done in his life and putting it in the enemies face literally saying “Gods got my back ……Forever”
Ochuko is currently not signed on to any label.
