Q: Who came up with the concept of the band?

A: Originally, Sonny had the concept of lounging out classic rock songs, and he and Guy agreed that the integrity of the music be important. Both loved the classic jazz of the '50s and '60s, and both grew up on classic rock. The band's name, the style, the logo and the vibe were initiated by Sonny, and the band developed as different players came through. Also, the name Nutty, which replaced the original 'temporary' name of Chase Lounge and the Lazy Boys, came out of both bandleaders' love for the original Jerry Lewis version of "The Nutty Professor". It was serendipitous that they'd discovered a Thelonious Monk composition with the same title, which further legitimized the jazz element of Nutty.
