Night's Bright Colors is an American indie pop band from Asheville, North Carolina. The band was formed in 2003 by Jason Smith, who is the sole permanent member. Night's Bright Colors has released eight studio albums, four EPs, and a number of singles. The band's music has been described as indie pop, electronic, folk, classical, ambient, and experimental.
The project began as a solo effort in Smith's bedroom, but has since grown to include a rotating cast of collaborators. Smith's songwriting is characterized by its introspective lyrics and lush melodies, while his production style is eclectic and experimental. Smith began working on Night's Bright Colors as a solo project in 2003. He released his debut album, Love in the Asylum (2006), First Set Fire to the Stars (2007), Late Night by Lamplight (2008), Absinthe Twilight (2009), Patient Notes (2011), Late Bloomer (2012), Early Light (2013), and Fin And Pier (2017).
In addition to his work with Night's Bright Colors, Smith has also composed music for films and television. He has scored a number of independent films.
