Michael Knubbe left school at the age of 17 making a living as a professional street-musician for the next quarter of a century.
Since then a lot has happened in the life of the 63-year-old singer-songwriter from Hamburg/Germany.
With his wife Annette, he resided 10 years in the Netherlands before they moved to Frankfurt, Berlin and finally Fulda/Germany where they live with their 4 year old dog Laika.
Michael has published more than 70 short-stories in different german magazines and after a decade of musical silence in 2011 he came back to what he loves and knows best: the singing, playing and writing of Folk and Country songs.
He has never lost his admiration for JohnPrine, Johnny Cash, Townes van Zandt or Kinky Friedman to name a few and the listener will find a very personal and emotional closeness to the genre in Michael’s songwriting on his solo album "my americana".
In 2017 Michael moved to Berlin where he performed with ‚HazelBell’, a group consisting of long-time-musical-partners Leoni Schmitz and Maria Mendico. The fourth member John Paul Laffan was introduced 2 years prior by Maria and immediately matched. Their album ‚Howlin‘ Encouragement‘ was published in 2016.
Michael Knubbe is a trained and certified care assistant and works in a retirement home focused on residents with dementia.
