I'm a keyboard player, singer, songwriter, band member, recording engineer, producer, and arranger.
I spent most of my life as an ad guy, writer, creative director, agency owner. Sold my first agency to McCann Erickson, yes, the same agency as depicted in Mad Men.
Now I'm all about music: playing, writing, recording, collaboration. I have two solo albums on the market — She Said, and Baby Is It Love — and have begun work on a third.
My style? I guess I'm a product of my heroes, people who write songs with lyrics that have meaning, so my audience is, well, thoughtful people. People interested in going deep on a song. My influences are eclectic ranging from older rock styles to current stuff, classical music, jazz. My greatest hope is not fame and fortune, but rather that a lot of people listen and that a few will cover my songs with their own versions.
Music is fun to make, challenging. Songs are tiny puzzles, only a few minutes long, where we can tell a story, play a character, make you want to move, and establish themes and hooks that burrow into the brain and become iconic.
I hope you like what you hear. If you want to see lyrics and read what makes each song tick for me, go to my website, www.mfgould.com and check out the Songs pages. Each song on Baby Is It Love is narrated for your deep dive. And soon I'll put up info about the first album, She Said.
