Mel Farrimond was raised in the hills of Ayrshire, Scotland. Moving to eastern Canada in 1994, she started a career as a university professor and honed her skills as a songwriter on our salty shores. Mel’s upbringing and education bestow on her introspective folk songs a unique refrain, resonating with past experiences and echoing into the future. The full-length release “Through The Darkness” features Mel’s dense lyrical content and songwriting aptitude in harmony with a host of recognizable Halifax musicians, amassing further class and courage to a heartfelt and harbouring debut record.
