A concert to benefit the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce’s Angel Tree will be held at the Murfreesboro High School Activity Center. Ashli Turner and Heather Grabin will be performing, followed by Brady Hoover of Murfreesboro. Wrapping up the event will be Greg McCuin of McCuin. Admission to the concert is $5. One child under twelve-years-old will be granted free admission with the purchase of two adult tickets. All proceeds and donations made by the Chamber during the event will be used to help fulfill wishes that might be left on the Angel Trees. (11/28/11,coc,grabin) A fun-filled family day has been planned for this Saturday, December 3 for Murfreesboro’s First Annual “Christmas on the Square”. The event is a collaborated effort of the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department, the Junior Auxiliary of Pike County, and the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce. Events of the day will include a parade, visit with Santa Claus, Cookies and Milk with Mrs. Claus, KidZone A...ctivities, Luminary Lighting Ceremony and a concert. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. Line-up will begin in the parking lot of Sun Printing at noon and the parade will end in the Napa parking lot. Santa Claus will arrive with the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department at the Courthouse Square after the parade beginning at 2 p.m. The Murfreesboro High School Band will be performing a concert on the Square after the parade. The Junior Auxiliary of Pike County will be hosting “Cookies with Mrs. Claus” from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room of the Murfreesboro Municipal Building. Admission is $3 and includes two cookies, a carton of milk and story time with Mrs. Claus. From 4 to 6 p.m. the JA will host KidZone Activities and pizza for $10 per child. Additional children of the same family will be $5. Twelve dollars will cover both activities that the JA is offering for one child. Additional children of the same family will be $7. All proceeds from the JA’s activities will benefit families in the area. The Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce will be in the Old City Service on the Square, a building located on the Pavilion by the Courthouse Square. Luminaries will be sold for $3 a piece or two for $5. Luminaries may be purchased in honor or in memory of someone. Angel Tree applications may be filled out at any time in the foyer of the Murfreesboro City Hall, but the Chamber will also be accepting them until 5 p.m. Saturday. Trees will be located at the Pike County Courthouse and Rehkopf’s Grocery Store. All gifts for the angels should be returned to Murfreesboro City Hall by Monday, Dec. 19. The Luminary Lighting Ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. and will include a reading of the names of the luminaries. The Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce will be selling popcorn, hot chocolate and coffee from the building as well throughout all of the day’s events.
