A unique take on the blues through original lyrics and an “out of the blue” rocking style. The Shufflecats are led by the powerful and distinctive voice of Mark Anthony. Although influenced by the pioneers of blues-rock, the band is popular because of a style that is their own. An original member, Mark is the force behind the expressive and imaginative lyrics and an important contributor to the Shufflecats sound.
Formed in North Dakota with the dynamic lead guitar of Ken Rardin, the band also has a following in their current Minneapolis home area.
The Shufflecats are a popular regional act, playing clubs and festivals throughout the Midwest. They’ve been the opening band for headline acts including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blue Oyster Cult, The Outlaws, Nazareth, Foghat, April Wine, The Allman Brothers, Little River Band, Molly Hatchet, and Johnny Winter, just to name a few. Mark has also been invited onstage to sing with the Doobie Brothers.
Mark and Ken had an early influence on the musical careers of fellow North Dakota natives, Jonny Lang and Shannon Curfman. They are also proud to call friend an original member of the Blues Brothers, Tom “Bones” Malone ,who has been a guest artist with The Shufflecats.
