Marco Sysma (born Marco Patrignani) is an Italian singer-songwriter based in Ladispoli, near Rome, Italy. He plays guitars, keyboards, bass and he is a music producer and sound engineer. He has played with the band “Sysma” and he had worked with the sound engineer Matt Lawrence (Grammy for mixing Mumford & Sons Babel).
He has worked for years as a marble worker, playing his songs with his band in Italy. They played a mix of punk, rock, classic rock, not a very appreciated style of music in Italy. It was hard to get gigs outside a little group of venues. For this reason he had tried to find a new way in London. He had only 8 addresses of music managers and delivered to each one of them one cd with 3 of his songs. He was lucky to get a good response from the Nick Cave’s long-standing manager, Rayner Jesson. He began to play in London but unfortunately Rayner died after only two years. He had worked for a little period with Matt Lawrence and then, with the big music crisis of the 2010s, he came back to Italy to his old work.
Marco held on playing and writing music, performing as a solo act in little venues in Italy, he began to perfect his skills as a sound engineer building his home recording studio, recording and mixing new and old songs.
In 2025 he decided to re-emerge in the music world, he left his work and begun to record, mixing and publishing all his music world.
In 2025, the 11th of September, he published “Sorry For The Delay”, a 12 songs album recorded with his old band “Sysma” with the contribuition of Matt Lawrence for the mixing.
The 24th of October, 2026, a new album was out. “Back Again”, always a 12 songs album recorded with his old band “Sysma” and the contribuition of Matt Lawrence for the mixing.
What can we say about the sound of these albums? I liked this quotation written by an English journalist when he played, with his band, at the Z-Fest, a London Music Festival “Marco & The Sysma make beautifully eclectic music that fuses together a bit of rock, punk, new wave, indie and pop. However, as all connoisseurs of Italian cooking know, it’s not the number of ingredients that matters, but what you do with them that counts.”
All albums are distributed by Cd Baby on every music platform and it is possible to buy the phisycal cd on Marco Sysma’s web site:
