Marco Sysma is the pseudonym of Marco Patrignani, an Italian multi-instrumentalists and a singer- songwriter born in Rome. He sings and plays all guitars, bass, keyboards, harmonica in all of his songs, while the drums is usually played by the drummer of his live band (A. Augugliaro).
He writes, records, produces, mixes and masters all of his songs in his music studio, for this reason Marco is the real prototype of the Indie singer-songwriter, controlling everything of his songs.
Marco’s music influences are multiple: all genres of rock, from Country to Punk, Classical Music, Pop and any songs or music composition worth listening to. He has a collection of 700 pieces (cds and lps) of more than 250 artists from all over the world. Spotify is good, but when you buy an album you will pay more attention to what you are listening to.
He has planned a great project for the year 2023, a great challenge... He will produce a new song for every week of the year, 52 weeks, 52 original songs divided by 9 albums. This is the first one: January 2023. It will be distributed by Cd Baby everywhere, in every streaming platform, he’s working to sell the physical format cd very soon.
Some of the songs will be old ones, the best ones, they will be re-recorded and produced in a new version, but most of them will be new songs that will be created this year. He knows all the difficulties of this project, the creativity and the time to do it right, but that’s the challenge.
He doesn’t like to be boring so it will not be the same song played 52 times in 52 different ways.
He thinks a musician always playing the same genre of music for his life he’s not a real musician but a slave of his fans.
Marco is grown up listening to Classical music, he began to listen to modern music at 12 with an old Bob Dylan’s album, then his attention was captured by New England rock indie movement of 90s. He was attracted by their music and by the fact that they’ve recorded most of their albums at Mansfield (MA), a city where he has a lot of relatives. He believes that is not important the style of the song: Punk, New Wave, Classic Rock, Pop, Urban, Country and so on….
A good song is always a good song, doesn’t matter what genre.
He remembers the advice of his first manager (R. Jesson): “ When you play a song, don’t pay attention to play it well, the most important thing is to play it with your heart.”
Music gives emotions and Marco likes to give emotions to all his listeners, but he knows how it is important to be a good player and singer too.
