“12-Year-Old Boy's Heavenly Rendition Of 'Go Rest High On That Mountain' Will Have You In Tears”

“Brooks & Dunn may have released “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” back in the early 1990s, but it’s still making waves with some young country fans today. Maddox Ross, who describes himself as a “singer/songwriter/musician that loves ‘real’ country music,” performed the song one year at the Centennial Rodeo Opry in Oklahoma City according to his YouTube page. Ten years old at the time, Ross fit the image sporting a cowboy hat and a shirt tucked into his pants. He was accompanied by a full band as he belted the words, which pay tribute to line dancing. Although the lyrics are far more mature than his age, it’s easy to believe that this tune is “one of his favorites,” as he explains in the caption. “I’ve got a good job I work hard for my money/When it’s quittin time I hit the door runnin’/I fire up my pickup truck and let the horses run/I go flyin’ down that highway to that hide-a-way/Stuck out in the woods to do the boot scootin’ boogie,” he sang.”

“Maddox Ross, 9, sings as he wears a Lone Ranger mask during the 2013 National Day of the American Cowboy at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.”

“Scarberry said one of her favorite aspects of music is being involved with kids. Those who attend Friday’s show will see one of Rodeo Opry’s youngest regular performers, Maddox Ross. “Maddox has a great personality,” Scarberry said of the 8-year-old singer. “Maddox was with his family at the Oklahoma state fair and there was a karaoke contest. Maddox was on dad’s shoulders and told him he wanted to participate. He wound up winning the contest.” Ross’ mother, Shauna, laughed when recalling the memory of her then-4-year-old son at the fair. “We just knew this was something he liked, and we are not music people at all. So for the next six months, we just looked around for places for Maddox to sing. It was almost a year, and somebody mentioned to us about the Rodeo Opry’s auditions. We made it to the first audition, and they called us back that night for the show.” “I like going up on stage and having people cheer and clap for me,” Maddox said.”

“Rodeo in Stereo When the old Rodeo Opry Theatre fills up on Saturday nights, it gets hot, thanks to sizzling performances from rising stars in country music like Kata Hay, Maddox Ross, and Tammy Lee. What is now the Centennial Rodeo Opry began as a small show thirty-four years ago in founder Grant Leftwich’s Oklahoma City backyard. It soon was called the Oklahoma Opry, moved around more than once, and finally took over the old Rodeo Antique Store at the Stockyards in 2004, says Cindy Scarberry, executive director of the Opry Heritage Foundation of Oklahoma. The foundation continues to help young, talented Oklahomans find their way to the spotlight through various outlets on and off the stage, such as the Granville Community Music School a block west of the opry. Between the philanthropic programs and the elite alumni who have graced the stage on Saturday nights—among them Bryan White, Katrina Elam, and Wanda Jackson—it’s no wonder the last two governors have decla”

“Singer, songwriter Kyle Earhart rocks the stage performing Blake Shelton and Trace Adkin's hit song, "Hillbilly Bone". Halfway through he invites the young YouTube artist, Maddox Ross to join him on stage to sing with him. Maddox, adorable as always, performs wonderfully with Kyle, but completely takes over the stage with his performance. Y'all can also see Maddox perform Alan Jackson's "Little Bitty". Of course, no one will ever be able to perform this song like Blake and Trace, but this cover performance was definitely a fun watch!”

“Maddox Ross – look out cause here he come! The 9 year old dynamo has released his self-titled debut on Lunacy Records. If you haven’t seen Maddox perform as he tours through Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri catch one of his shows if at all possible. The energy he brings is fun and exciting. The CD kicks off with a big “Let’s Go” from Maddox and never let’s up. Songs like “Little Bitty” and “Ace in the Hole” feature the outstanding Rodeo Opry Band (Scarberry-guitars, Short-drums, Jones-keys, Cope-bass, Simpson-fiddle, Barnard-steel). These guys can do it all!! Singing with Maddox on “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” is another youngster whose career is taking off – Emily Faith. With a combined age of 18, these two deliver the goods. Maddox has been performing since he was 4. It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch what happens and see where his talent takes him.”

“11-year-old Maddox Ross was born a performer. He has been performing with a live band since the age of five. In a very short time, the Oklahoma-bred talent has developed a following in the Heartland. He won his first karaoke contest at the age of four and fell in love with the stage.”

“Maddox Ross, a finalist of the “America’s Got Talent” YouTube contest, will perform Saturday at downtown Bartlesville’s Serenade the ’Ville event. -”

“Now here is one handsome young man straight from Oklahoma. This little seven year old can really tear up a stage and turn the heads of anyone around in ear shot. Watching this young man perform is a blast, he is so much fun and has a lot of character when he is on stage. Maddox has such a wonderful personality when he is on stage, you don't want to take your eyes off him. He is pure entertainment. One thing with Maddox, is no one even knows where his talent comes from, because no one in his family sings or plays any instruments. It has been a mystery to his whole family. Perhaps his talent came from watching CMT, and Garth Brooks DVD's instead of cartoons while he was growing up. At just two years old you could find him singing and dragging his guitar around behind him. It is very clear that Maddox is pure country.”

“Cute Kids Singing Country Songs: Brooks and Dunn, ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie’ By Coti Howell Brooks and Dunn‘s “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” is classic country sung by two manly men, but the tune gets a dose of cuteness when covered by a young boy. Maddox Ross may not have been born when the 1991 hit was released, but that doesn’t stop him from knowing all of the words. The song is one of Ross’ favorites, which is why he chose to perform it at the Oklahoma Centennial Rodeo Opry, according to YouTube. Ross dressed the part of a country star in a black cowboy hat, black shirt and a big belt buckle, belting out the line-dancing hit. Ten-year-old Ross loves country music, he has a ton of "real" country covers, as he calls them. It's clear this is the boy's passion, and he's already been doing it half his life. We wouldn't be surprised if we see his name on the Billboard charts in a few years!”
