Madam Weez / Press

“The singer, who performs as Madam Weez and fronts the Stevie Nicks / Tom Petty tribute band Gold Dust Woman & the Torpedoes, has played many cancer benefits over the years. However, this is the first one she's played for which she is the beneficiary. After months of stomach problems, a cancerous tumor was discovered on the inside wall of her stomach. In January, surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic removed three-quarters of her stomach and rerouted her digestive system. The good news is the cancer hadn't spread to her liver, her pancreas or the 23 lymph nodes that doctors checked. She is cancer free and has quit smoking after a 40-year habit. That's why Weez-A-Palooza is billed as celebration of her defeating cancer instead of as a benefit. When told of the plans, Damstoft-Hathaway said, "I was floored. I'm very honored. I cried. I know how much work this is."”

“Weez-A-Palooza There was a big benefit to celebrate Madam Weez, (Louise Damstoft-Hathaway)'s triumph over cancer at Longboyz in Champion featuring Joe Fritz, Rick Hartley, Mike & Spice, Off Beat, Steel Valley Rockers, Blue Siren, Old Goats Band, Wet Lemon, Damian Knapp and Main Street Lions. “Cancer benefit back at Up a Creek August 30, 2012 By ANDY GRAY Tribune Chronicle , Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com The musician who started it won't be there, but the show will go on for the Fourth Breast Cancer Benefit Reunion Concert & BBQ at Up a Creek Tavern. .Louise Damstoft-Hathaway, who performs under the name Madam Weez and will serve as host for the concert, said, ''We were a little bit panic stricken (at first), but these guys from Howland are amazing. I thought it was all going to be thrown on me, but everyone came to my aid.''............... ''The people coming back love being able to see all the bands from that era,'' Damstoft-Hathaway said. ''People who don't make it one year, they come back the next year. It's snowballed into something bigger than me and Tommy.'' ”

“Cancer benefit grows to two nights, two venues September 1, 2011~~One night and one venue no longer can contain the Breast Cancer Benefit Reunion Concert. After drawing capacity crowds the past two years to the outdoor patio at Up a Creek Tavern in Howland, the charity event now includes a second night at Packard Music Hall. Tommy McCoy, who organized the first event, said, ''A lot of us played dances at Packard Music Hall in the 60s and 70s. It seemed like the natural venue for this ... It's a nostalgic venue for a lot of people.''~~(go to link to finish reading article)”

“‘Mystic Blues’ results from 30 years of music making~~~Louise Damstoft-Hathaway, better known in local music circles as Madam Weez, expected to have her debut CD available for this weekend's Breast Cancer Benefit Reunion Concert. Assorted technical glitches, including a box of CDs that arrived earlier this month with full art but no sound on the discs, probably will keep that from happening. But after waiting 30 years to release her debut album, what's another couple weeks? ''I've been playing honky tonks in this area for over 30 years,'' Damstoft-Hathaway said. She credited several friends and colleagues who pushed her to write and record ''Mystic Blues.'' Damstoft-Hathaway, 53, played in different bands over years but was tired of the drama and hassles that come with being in a band, and she was having trouble finding a partner for a duo. ~~(go to link to finish reading) ”

““I had read about Madam Weez but was unprepared for the depth and range of her vocals. When I heard her sing a song from Linda Ronstadt, I melted and literally stopped a light conversation so I could hear and feel every word. She then mesmerized me with one of her original songs, a well crafted song cleverly written and performed perfectly in tune, running up and down the scale. And then a classic song by Firefall where she shared her talents on the 12 string guitar that was both beautiful and captivating. Then came a Stevie Nicks song, hard to cover, but she nailed it. At that moment, i put down my drink and was immersed in her performance. ”

"Madam Weez sets the stage at her club performances with a crystal ball and other mystic apparati, which may account for her ability to channel the vocal powers of Stevie Nicks, Pat Benetar, Janis Joplin, Sheryl Crow, Patsy Cline, and other blues and rock greats. She's at her best, however, when she's just Weez performing her own enjoyable, well-crafted songs."

““Madam Weez! She lives in a big house with lots of cats and dogs. Nope, not a voodoo princess in a New Orleans Parish, just a bad-ass Blues Momma still chasin' the blues in Y-town My-town. She is doing it all, and for real. She writes, she sings, and she plays a gritty blues guitar. She mounts any stage with the confidence born from knowing exactly who she is, what she is doing, and where she has been. Blues mavens need to be prepared for the real deal. Currently working on a new CD, Madam plans to record in the gentler climes of FLA later this year. I will be looking forward to posting some of her music when it becomes available. I just got The Madam's picture for these pages; She sure dresses up the site!!!””

““Madam Weez is a presence, encompassing the essence of her music. Her deft delivery of a unique and intriguing style, enchants your attention and draws you in to embody the possessed talents of her songwriting, singing and beautiful 12 string guitar prowess. Her professional integrity carries her performance in any size venue from intimate to in concert. Her original compositions define her as an artist and distinguishes her contribution to the world of contemporary singer/songwriter musicians."”
