“The Permanent Cure was formed in 1976 on St. Stephen's Green in Dublin, Ireland. The band's members were George Kaye, who was singer/songwriter, was playing on fiddle and on guitar, Dermot O'Connor, who was singer/songwriter, was playing on mandolin and on guitar, Leo Gillespie, who was singer/songwriter, was playing on guitar and blues harp and Pat Gibbs, who was singer, and was playing on clarinet, saxophone, piano and chromatic harmonica. They appeared on prime time in Irish Television (also in Gay Byrne's Late Late Show) and played in Dublin, Cork and Galway. With the unique music and the humor, between madness and typical black humor they quickly got the reputation of the "world's only acoustic punk band". Then, they recorded their first album "The Permanent Cure works..!" created by the record label Chrysalis Records. The band played with, among others, the Dubliners and various other folk bands at Guinness concerts throughout the country.”

“Leo Gillespie, a free soul, in concert... Born in Manchester UK, he became a street singer when he was 15 and traveled the world. No possession, no bank account, no attachment. With his baggage and guitar, he travels from Northern Europe to Southeast Asia, where he feels at home. A seasoned guitarist and a talented poet, he draws inspiration from his travels and encounters in an "English folk" style. His work wants to strike at the heart as simply and directly as possible. His songs are the most faithful and the most beautiful autobiography. The voice is hot, serious and sensual. The smile alternately charming, nostalgic or loaded with humor. Exceptional, out of fashion, Leo Gillespie refused the career of "star" who offered himself to him. At age 20, Eddie Barclay, enthusiastic, invited him to record his first record. The constraints of show business and commercial compromise were inconceivable for him.”
