the Aloha Maui Music Festival this Saturday, April 18th along with his IHM classmates from UH Maui College and their CD will be available for purchase at this event...special guest MC Alaka'i Paleka and other entertainment includes Mailani, George Kahumoku Jr, Kenneth Makuakāne, Hālau Pā'ū o Hi'iaka, Nā Wai 'Ehā...Please come and support the Institute of Hawaiian Music Program from 10am-5pm at the Maui Nui Botanical Garden for a fun filled day with Hawaiian music, food, hula, prizes, arts & crafts. Kenneth Makuakāne has received more than 150 nominations and a total of 14 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, the Hawaiʻi equivalent of the Grammy Awards. He is the leader of the Pandanus Club, a multi-award winning group, and the composer of over 1,500 songs, some recorded by the Brothers Cazimero, Nā Leo Pilimehana, Kapena, the Pandanus Club, and Amy Hānaiali‘i Gilliom. On Saturday, February 7, he performs in a rare solo concert at Hawaiʻi Public Radio’s intimate Atherton Studio. Tickets are $30 general, $25 for HPR members, and $15 for students with ID. Reservations may be made at www.hprtickets.org or by calling the station (955-8821) during regular business hours. The Atherton Studio is located at Hawaiʻi Public Radio, 738 Kāheka Street. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; music begins at 7:30 p.m.
I will be sharing the stage in a two hour concert with Nashville producer/songwriter Jeff Dayton and Walt Keale Kupuna. We will be playing our original compositions and sharing some life stories.
