"Back on July 2nd, Kingdom Under Fire destroyed the capacity audience at the Hawthorne Theatre that was predominantly there for As I Lay Dying, and they won some new fans. Phoenix’s large stature easily made his presence known, and with his long ginger-colored mane swirling in the humid air, was a sight to see. The rhythm section was incredible and Jon Eric P bashed the set like it owed him interest on a loan taken out in the fifth grade. Yes, bassist Timothy Leber is clearly influenced by Cliff Burton, but he had a style that was reminiscent if Steve DiGorgio (Testament, Death, Iced Earth, Control Denied, Charred Walls of the Damned) as his fingers danced across the fret board of his bass effortlessly. And the guitar tandem of Richardson and Peterson is among the best that I’ve seen locally. Richardson’s razor sharp rhythms complement Peterson’s exceptional, explosive leads. "
