Cincy Groove is proud to present the 1st Cincy Folk Festival taking place on June 27, 2015 at The Southgate House Revival (111 E 6th St, Newport, KY) . More importantly all proceeds from this event will benefit local NPR radio station WNKU. WNKU supports local music and musicians like no other and being a non profit station, needs help from the public to keep bring this great service to everyone in the listening area. The event will feature 15 acts in all 3 rooms of the Southgate House Revival. The acts that have been confirmed are below with more to be announced in the coming days. Kim Taylor with Sarah Grain & the Billions of Stars Kim Taylor, the smoky-voiced, singer-songwriter based in Southern Ohio, is known for her folk-pop songs and haunting live performances. With three acclaimed albums to her credit, shes shared stages with artists ranging from Kris Kristofferson to Ollabelle and Over The Rhine and has appeared on NPRs World Cafe Live with David Dye.Loves A Dog (October 2013) is Taylors most recent release reuniting with producer/multi-instrumentalist Jimi Zhivago (Ollabelle) and drummer Devon Ashley (Lemonheads). Recorded at NYCs Magic Shop (Rufus Wainwright) and mixed at Brooklyns Mission Sound, the 11 original tracks on Loves A Dog explore loss and the complexity of human relationships.Loves A Dog was also influenced by Kims acting debut. In 2011, Taylor was cast as a lead role in Matthew Porterfields music-infused drama, I Used To Be Darker. With art mirroring life, she was cast as a musician in the film and paired with actor/musician, Ned Oldham.I Used to Be Darker made its world premiere at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in January of 2013 and went on to screen internationally at the Berlinale in Berlin, Germany in February. The film has received positive reviews and was picked up by The Strand distributors for a limited theatrical release beginning October of 2013.IUTBD was named one of the New Yorkers best films of 2013.Taylors songs have appeared in numerous TV shows including Flashpoint, Smallville, One Tree Hill and ABCs Cyberbully.
