Kiirstin Marilyn is a New York City–based actor, singer, songwriter, and activist whose work spans musical theater, rock, comedy, and politically driven independent music.
A performer since childhood, Kiirstin pursued musical theater during and after college before becoming the frontperson of a post-hardcore progressive rock band. Over the years, she has founded and co-founded multiple artistic projects spanning music, theater, and comedy, while developing her own voice as a songwriter.
In her early twenties, Kiirstin became involved in street activism, fundamentally changing the way she thought about politics and art. Her work became a way to explore social and environmental issues and the connections between systems of oppression. That approach came fully into focus with her 2020 album 'There Are No Cats in America,' produced by longtime collaborator Adam Tilzer, tackling subjects from feminism and animal rights to climate change and political complacency.
Her subsequent releases include the 2023 EP 'Kristoffer,' written after the death of her brother, and her current project, 'Skinny for the Apocalypse.' Moving between alternative rock, electropop, and experimental influences, her music pairs personal storytelling with political and social commentary.
As an actor, Kiirstin has appeared in Mr. Robot (USA), Hightown (Netflix), and Dr. Death (Peacock), with stage credits including the NETworks National Tour of 'Cabaret' and Westchester Broadway Theatre.
Kiirstin is also returning to her musical theater roots as a writer, developing 'Anna,' her first original musical. Inspired by her Croatian grandmother and Kiirstin's experience caring for her later in life, the piece explores family, aging, identity, and the ways one generation shapes the next.
Across music, theater, and activism, Kiirstin's work is driven by the same impulse: to make art that has something to say.
