Created in February 2013 by Katerina Canyon and I, “Women For Peace” is a poetry reading series dedicated to promoting Gender Violence Awareness. Come enjoy the friendly ambiance of Mokabe’s and show your love for women at the fourth installment of the series on June 2nd at 7:00 p.m.! The show has featured many talented local artists, including Mali Newman, Deborah Mashibini, Joyce M Grimes (Joyce Blue), Erin Goss, María Balogh, Pamela Garvey, Stephanie "Surreal Sista” Williams, Maria Guadalupe Massey (Agapay Mari), Basmin Nadra, Patricia Merritt, and Randi Bobbi W. The June event will feature in-depth performances by Dana “Kels” Kelly, X Blu Rayne, Susan Trowbridge Adams, Brooke Lovestone, and I. I will be producing and hosting the show, which is done in conjunction with “The Peace Economy Project”, an anti-militarism non-profit organization formed in 1977 (www.peaceeconomyproject.org ). In addition there will be local art viewing and delicious food and beverages available for purchase. $5.00 suggested donation at the door; all proceeds benefit PEP. Hope to see some of your lovely faces there! Peace! ♥
