About the Artist

Born and raised a prairie girl from Saskatoon, Kathi began her singing career at a very early age. She was in her first band at 11 years of age; a reggae house band for a Jamaican cultural club performing every weekend. She started recording radio jingles at 13 years of age. Also at 13 years of age she recorded her first 45 rpm record which received tremendous interest and frequent radio play on stations across the province. One of the songs called “You’re The One” had Barry Muir from the Payolas lend his talent on bass guitar. She was invited to perform at high profile events around the city of Saskatoon. She received a lot of media attention. One review she received from a local radio announcer was “She’s young, she’s Canadian and she’s got one hell of a voice”. Her record was available for sale in record stores across Canada. This sparked the beginning of a passion for singing and performing. Kathi began making a name for herself within the Saskatoon community and around the province, being invited to record other original tunes and more radio jingles for businesses across the province. She was invited to record at CBC studio in Regina. The cover tunes were played frequently on CBC Radio (French). Kathi went on to play with many cover bands over the years playing venues across the province. She showed her versatility with pop, country, and rock. Throughout her life she penned dozens of original tunes that offer a glimpse of what is in her heart and her perspective on human nature. She looks at life through an introspective lens. She continues to write originals and is now recording them and working toward releasing her first album. “It is a very vulnerable feeling sharing pieces of your soul knowing it will be judged one way or another”. Besides her originals, she is also performing cover tunes in a duo called Lewis & Salkeld with a brilliant piano player named Kim Salkeld doing pop, rock, R'n'B and light jazz. She also has a project called the Kathi Lewis Band doing more exclusively pop, rock and R'n'B hits.
