GET INTO THE MUSIC! "Edmonton’s self-styled Swamp Blues Queen Kat Danser, is a woman with a commanding presence, powerful expressive voice, and a deft touch on stringed instruments. In a word, her performance glistened.”- David Farrell – FYI Music Kat's fourth album, Baptized by the Mud, was produced by Juno-award winner Steve Dawson. The recording addresses the dichotomy of ‘church-blues’, that is, blues music as devilish and church music as angelic. This sub-genre demonstrates that human truth and the divine are one in the same – “one is preached from behind the pulpit and the other from behind the plow”. As Artist in Residence at Arts Commons, Kat holds a Masters in Musicology from the University of Alberta and has completed her PhD coursework toward a full doctorate in Musicology specializing in blues and roots music in the American South. We may learn more about the Mississippi Blues and how it relates to the voices in Africa and our own First Nations. We may even write a song together! "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." ~ Auerbach

““Ms. Danser is in full voice on Passin’-A-Time seeming to channel the great vocalists of the Mississippi Delta. What is contained on this album will transport you back to an earlier time and remind us that even with a new found soul full of blues, Kat Danser can still get down and make a priest blush.””
