JEFF BIO: California native Jeff Griffin was born in Santa Barbara. He moved to Portland to attend trade school. After getting certified, he then moved to Seattle and eventually relocated to Bellingham where he stayed for the next ten years. He is currently based in San Francisco, the colorful and upbeat city he now calls home. Jeff Griffin is an experienced drummer who started playing drums at age 12. He has been involved in various bands through the years, mostly playing punk rock and Thrash. He expanded his skills and improved his talent by training to play Funk, Blues, Jazz, Afro-Cuban Rhythms and Brazilian music, following Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials. The discovery of this masterful tutorial tool opened up a whole new world for him and made him appreciate the music of different cultures. Jeff has also been playing guitar for several years now and is studying music theory. In his pursuit to become a versatile musician-songwriter, he is now learning how to play the Bass guitar. He demonstrates his versatility by writing and arranging original songs where he plays the drums, guitar, bass and sings the vocals. He is a currently putting together a working band, looking for like-minded passionate musicians able to play multiple genres. His ultimate goal is to be a working drummer in the Bay Area. HISTORY: When Jeff was 5, he was blown away when he first heard the drum solo of Peter Criss from KISS Alive 1. He knew from that moment on that he would be a drummer and create the same sounds. With just his mom's coffee cans, pencils and a practice pad, he started learning the basics on his own. Jeff finally got his first drum set when he turned 12 and was given his first drum lessons at the same time. He has been playing since then, jamming, gigging, providing fun and entertainment in different venues. He credits Peter Criss and John Bonham as his earliest influences. His musical journey continued as he discovered thrash metal. He became a huge Slayer fan, counting Dave Lombardo as a major inspiration in his teenage years. Through the years, his passion for music opened him up to learn and appreciate other genres, like jazz, blues, funk, and Brazilian. He continues to study and learn from the best to improve his skills and be a better performer.
