Q: who influenced you?what bands did you enjoy as a kid...

A: I like many different styles and genres of music. However, my favorite rock band has always been Kiss. I've never limited myself to listening to only one particular style of music, I love everything from old school heavy metal, blues, jazz, classic rock, old school country, and classical music. I don't believe there is one single artist or band that actually influenced me to play music or is a significant influence on my own music. The songs I write are a reflection of many different influences. When I was still playing the drums in bands, most of the bands I played drums for played mostly if not all original music, I don't have much of a history of playing in cover bands, although I have played cover songs in the past. If I had to choose who would be a direct influence on my own song writing, I'd honestly have to say that I was influenced more by the bands and song writers I played drums with myself for over 20 years than I was ever influenced by main stream or "Famous" bands. I have had the opportunity to play and perform with, as well as collaborate in writing songs with some really talented and awesome musicians through out my musical career, which stems back over a 38 year period. I believe there is a big difference between a musician and an artist. A musician plays music, but an artist, not only plays music but has the ability to create their own music. I have nothing against musicians who play cover songs, in fact I enjoy seeing a good cover band every now and then and I have a lot of respect and admiration for talented musicians who are able to do a good cover of some popular song or songs. However, for me, being creative has always been at the top of my priority list as far as music goes. I like originality, I don't get into bands who deliberately try to sound like some other band, there are too many of those around, they're a dime a dozen. I don't consider myself to be a musician, I'm an artist, and my art is creating music.
