Jason Thies

Jason Thies is a guitarist, singer and songwriter based out of Durango, Colorado. He has released 5 albums of original music. 2 of these, People Places Possibilities & Grey Matters, are available through Apple Music, YouTube and Spotify. Peter Hay, from Twin Vision, described his music as “…excellent; a wonderfully rootsy, bluesy, and exuberantly hook-filled sound.” Thies, originally from Pekin, Illinois, played his first Durango shows in 1979. Since then he has performed throughout Southwest Colorado and Northwest New Mexico, as well as stints in Austin, TX and Nashville, TN. In 2006 he was a founding member of The Assortment, along with Jeff Haspel, Kim Heikens and Michael Mixter, with vocalist Patrice DeLorenzo joining in 2017. They played a wide variety of popular music, as well as many original tunes. Today Jason’s shows are mostly solo affairs, combining his clever and catchy original songs with memorable rock, country & blues from the 1950’s on into the 21st century. He has often appeared at the Far View Lodge in Mesa Verde National Park and currently plays regularly at the Strater Hotel’s Diamond Belle Saloon in Durango. His latest album, Ruff Stuff From Chicken Flats, is available on cd at his shows.
