Q: Jamie love the grooves, can you speak to your recording and mixing process? Also what about your equipment, what do you use? Thanks.

A: Hi, thanks for your questions. I use Mixcraft mostly but also some Garage Band and Logic. I take loops that feel right and combined them with others. Or I may cut and rearrange a loop, remaking parts of them to get the sound I am feeling. Also, I use a keyboard to add in original aspects. As for process, an idea will come to me and I begin to feel a sound. I then find the sound or create it and then build around it. I don't know if you listened to Whales of Emotion, but I was playing around with the pitch control on my key board when I heard what was similar to a whales call. I played around until I found the voice of my whale and then built the rest of the song around it. I never really know where the song is going to take me until I arrive at the end of the journey of creating it. It is an internal process from beginning to end.
