James Corbin hails from Asheville, NC and was the lead singer and songwriter for the band Dirt Poor Authority (DPA). DPA released two albums under the Hero Recording Company label before the band split in 1999. James continued to write and recorded a solo album "Dichotomy" in 2002 while in college. Shortly after graduation, James became a commissioned Armor officer in the Army. During his 10 years on active duty, James deployed to Iraq three times in cavalry and infantry organizations as a reconnaissance platoon leader, executive officer and rifle company commander. The last tour was the impetus behind the record, "From Baghdad to Bisbee" which feels like a diary about separation, war, loneliness, and stings with the political satire of the great folk giants of old. All of those songs were written while in Iraq. James’ latest record, Where the Roots Raise the Road, is another great collection of witty, challenging, and authentic songs about life, love, loss, and our place in this world. James currently resides in Gainesville, GA and is active in the songwriter scene in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
