About the Artist

'Interstitium' is an Award-Winning Alt. Rock band led by Ian Irvine (Hobson) - also a writer/poet. Interstitium are completing the soundtrack to 'Century Storm: Songs of the Interstitium', a multiplatform story and alt. rock stage show set in various parts of the planet. ALBUM 2: Ascent of the Red Dragon' (completed between 2018 and 2019, 12 songs). ALBUM 3: 'Blue Tigers and Scottish Unicorns', (completed Dec. 2020,12 songs). ALBUM 4: 'Songs for the Quantum Muse', (completed in mid-2021, 12 songs). ALBUM 5: 'The Many Selves of Rowan Sweeney' (completed in Oct. 2022, 12 songs). ALBUM 6: 'Touring the Land of Ghosts' (completed in July 2024, 12 songs). ALBUM 7: 'Aftermath ... Everything and the Quantum Sink' (completed Jan. 2025, 12 songs). ALBUM 8: 'The Citadel of Clouds' (completed Feb. 2026, 12 songs). ALBUM 9: 'We Sing the Multiverse' (currently in production, 12 songs planned). The albums have been produced across 3 continents - Australia (where Ian, Kara, Sue, and Ev are situated), Europe (via Peter Gaines and the Custom Anthems team) and the US (via Timmy de Armitt and team). Ian sincerely thanks all of the session musicians who have contributed to the songs so far feat. in the project. The band is also linked to the Allied Indies music cooperative (2022-26). 5 songs have feat. on 4 Allied Indies anthology EPs organised by Jim Ferrell (a Florida-based muso/promoter). INTERSTITIUM'S PRE-HISTORY Ian Irvine, who was born in Manchester (UK), was lead singer and co-songwriter for 'Goya's Child (Original)' (renamed for a memorial project as 'Ian Irvine Solo') for 3 years when they were at the height of their creative powers. The band performed at venues across Victoria and Tasmania (Australia) - sometimes headlining, but occasionally supporting iconic Australian acts. Like many Australian bands they developed and were inspired by the high-octane Aussie pub rock scene of the era, but also played many university, nightclub, RAVE and festival gigs, often to large crowds. Note: Ian Irvine Solo is a memorial project instigated to honour deceased G.C. Original members Liam and James, and to record for posterity a significant part of the full G.C. oeuvre. Ian has also published novels, short fiction, nonfiction and poetry since the late 1990s (with poems featuring in a number of Australian national anthologies). His novels explore dystopian Quantum Fiction story-worlds. He has also co-edited over 20 creative writing anthologies feat. over 300 writers. In his youth he had a short career as a professional cricketer (specialising in fast bowling) and was picked to play for New Zealand at U19 level (on 2 tours to Australia), numerous Auckland Province teams, as well as Worcestershire County Cricket Club (UK). Given the influence of the 'Manchester sound' on many Interstitium songs (and on his earlier songwriting with 'Ian Irvine (Solo)/G.C. (Original)'), Ian is sometimes described as the 'Antipodean Son' - of the Manchester music scene', since he was born, and for a time raised, amidst a remarkable cluster of musos - many of whom became key contributors to the development of punk rock, garage rock, post-punk rock, etc. - i.e. bands like The Stone Roses, The Buzzcocks, The Drones, The Smiths, New Order, The Verve, James, The Happy Mondays, Joy Division, Simply Red, The Charlatans, Oasis, The Fall and so on, were all formed, played and recorded albums in Manchester between 1976-96.
