About the Artist

Internal Leprosy is a death metal band duo from a small town of Pampanga in Philippines with heavy, fast and very aggressive sound having morbid, gruesome lyrical content about political issues both real and inspired by movies, true stories and experiences of different nations that suffered from diseases, genocides, war, religious war and brutal imaginations of the band members themselves. The band was founded back in 2009 by King (vocals/bass) and Paolo (vocals/guitars). Had some several line-up changes and ended up being together with Arron as the official drummer. The band became official and active in 2014. King was in a band called ”Kalbaryo” back in 2008. The vocalist of the said band left with no formal disclosure so it left him and the other members of the band searching for replacements. The guitarist of Kalbaryo suggested one of his friends to take the vocal part and that guy was Paolo. Unfortunately, two of the Kalbaryo members left the band as well leaving King and Pao in the band. They became good friends and hung out all the time from then on and shared their common interests in music. One night of 2008 or early 2009 (not sure) when King and Paolo were hanging out, Pao suggested that they should put up a new band. They were into brutal death and goregrind music that time and with Pao having so many thoughts about brutality for seeing so much slasher and horror movies and being a fan of Cannibal Corpse, and King on the other hand have the same ideas and listens to Pig Destroyer, Katalepsy and stuff like that during those times, Internal Leprosy was born. They both tried to contact friends and friends of friends and common friends in search for a drummer, a vocalist and another guitarist. One friend of Pao have the voice skills they were looking for and King knows a guy who played drums several times with him on random jamming days with common friends near his area to fill in the spot. They scheduled a practice jam and it turned out to be good without realizing that the drummer will leave again. Another took part on playing the drums and didn't work out as planned also. King and Pao decided to wait for the right time and opportunity for Internal Leprosy and put the band in hiatus. They just continued to write songs and recorded the riffs using a mobile phone and set those songs aside while looking for the perfect members that could join them. Years have passed, the town’s band scene died for a long time from 2009 to early 2011. In the middle of 2011, King met somebody online from a local scene in Pampanga (band’s hometown) that he wasn't aware that existed and asked King and him could form a hardcore band. King said yes even though that time he only had a tiny influence of hardcore. And so, a hardcore band called Provoke was born. Another common friend in that scene who was in a punk band in the same scene approached King and offered to form another hardcore band. Knuckle Break was formed. Played several shows in 2 years, recorded a demo and stopped for a while early 2014 due to members' personal matters. King again took the chance because the scene was getting tight and because of the hardcore bands he's with were always putting up small shows in town. It was late 2014 when Pao and King decided to awaken Internal Leprosy and start to look for a drummer. King suggested to post on social media of an announcement looking for a drummer. After a few days when the announcement was posted, a guy replied that he wanted to give it a shot so the next day after seeing that reply, King and Pao went out to meet Arron days before Christmas holiday of 2014. They all went to King's place, had a few drinks and made Arron listen to the song riffs and lyrics and said yes to the project. They practiced at a local studio and polished the old songs from 2009 and had their first show in May of 2014. Since then, Arron became the official drummer of Internal Leprosy. Played in many shows around their hometown and other parts of Manila. Pao and King decided both of them will do the vocal parts and the rest was history. Internal Leprosy is currently active playing at shows from different productions in Pampanga, Manila and other places. Recorded their songs last February 2016 under Monopond Studio, Pasig City, Manila and will soon release an EP this year (2016). Paolo quit the band on 2017 due to personal matters leaving Arron and King the only members of the band at present. The band is not currently signed under any major label.
