Hewdie is the stage name of Peet Didderiëns. He embarked on his musical journey in 1990 when he co-founded the psychedelic garage rock band Digestives.
Moving away from the hard-edged sound of Digestives, Hewdie delved into the realm of roots-influenced music, and spent the remainder of the 90s playing folky indie rock, roots rock and guitar pop in a series of bands and projects.
In 2004, he embarked on a solo career as Hewdie, embracing a stripped-down acoustic style that showcased his storytelling abilities.
The albums ‘Outsider Blues’ and ‘Under the Sun, Moon and Stars’ received critical acclaim for their uncluttered but inventive arrangements and the quality of the songwriting.
In 2020, after a hiatus of several years, he released the e.p. ‘Post-Modern Primitive’, featuring six acoustic tracks.
On March 29, 2022, the archival release ‘Peep-O-Rama: home recordings and demos, volume 1: 1990-1994’ unveiled 14 unreleased and unissued demos.
The 2024 album ‘The Low Lands By The Sea' combined Americana with European influences and was nominated 'Album of the year' by Pop in Limburg.
The new e.p. ' Sixty Candles' marks a return to Hewdie's folk-blues and Americana roots. It is out now and available via Bandcamp and all streaming services.
