Gypsy Piano Blues is the stage name of Denise Peachey (also known as Denise Semprevivo Peachey or Denise A. Peachey), a solo blues pianist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist (piano/organ, harmonica) based in Sierra Vista, Arizona (originally from the Pittsburgh area, Pennsylvania).
She performs piano-based blues in styles including traditional blues, Chicago blues, boogie-woogie, country blues, blues rock, rockabilly piano blues, jump/swing blues, and some R&B/funk influences. Her voice is often described as husky, soulful, and reminiscent of Janis Joplin. She started the project in 1994 (initially for smaller venues between band gigs) and has released multiple albums and dozens of tracks, performing solo or with friends. Influences include Dr. John, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Waller, Elvis Presley, and others.
