In July of 1993 Debbie Hutchins, Roger Gonzales and Frank Sipes started Good Medicine.Roger soon left and Debbie and Frank headed out on the road where they have stayed. Their travels included 8 states and western Canada.Good Medicine has done every type of venue from restaurants and brew pubs to radio and TV, to concerts opening for U. Utah Phillips, Rosalee Sorrells,Peter Rowan, Dave Nelson, Alice Stuart, The Waybacks, Maria Muldar, Elvin Bishop, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, Tinsley Ellis, and Houston Jones and many more.
In this time Good Medicine developed what Dirty Linen magazine called an "eclectic" style of music.Influenced by west coast bands like Hot Tuna, The Grateful Dead, also Bob Dylan and Blues greats Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and many more they have created what some call, Americana, but they prefer Folkadelik, a combination of Blues, Rock, Folk, Country, Jam and what ever else they hear.
In 2001 they were joined by Mark Albosta on drums and Kristin Ramsey on violin, guitar and vocals to start the first big band. After Kristin left and joined the Adam Burns band, in 2008 they were joined by Jeff Hallock on harmonica and vocals. For several years now we have been jamming with Ronnie Sweeting on guitar and in 2015 started doing jobs with him.
Now in 2018, Good Medicine's 25th year, Deb and Frank still continue to perform as the duo, trio and quintet which is Good Medicine & Friends with Jeffrey Hallock-harmonicas, Jim "Gumbo" Furnas-guitars & vocals, and John Shafer on drums. We're continuing to have a great time making music together here in 2024.
