Born within the sound of the shipyard rivet guns, this Tynesider moved south when he joined the Royal Navy as a boy.
George took up the guitar because no one had, at that time, invented the Video
His family were well-known musicians in the North-east of England. During the floods of 1957 his Mother was rescued from the family home by paddling out on a sofa whilst his Father accompanied her on the piano.
George has built up quite a reputation as both an entertainer and compere at some of the country’s most prestigious music and beer festivals (Banbury, Broadstairs, Bude, Guernsey, Fareham, Maryport, Portsmouth, Chester, Winchester, and many more) as well as in folk clubs and music venues all over England and Europe
As well as performing as a solo artist wherein he has supported (among others) Huw & Tony Williams, Harvey Andrews, Show Of Hands and in 2004 ……… Richard Thompson.
In 2007 he achieved a life-long ambition when he played at The Royal Albert Hall in London - One day he'd like to play INSIDE!
He lives, with his wife, and not-too-far from his daughters in Hedge End (where the M27 is cobbled) and happily, thanks to the makers of PROZAC, no longer works for Southampton Anti-Social Services
