“Gimme Five: Overlooked Yes Albums (And Why Some of Them Should Be)”
“Hiding behind a bank of keyboards, Geoff Downes of the Buggles and Asia, seemed to shun the spotlight but his synth and organ runs are integral to the Yes sound. A blazing "South Side of the Sky" was particularly impressive, as close to a dance song as Yes is likely to ever play.”
“The ever-busy Geoff Downes has just completed work on a new album with Asia, even as he begins recording another with Yes. Significant changes mark both projects, as the keyboardist moves forward without key collaborators in guitarist Steve Howe and producer Trevor Horn.”
“There are lazy musicians and there is Geoff Downes who never stops working. One year ago the keyboardist had a lot to report but this time there’s more. ASIA have just rounded off the preparations for a new album release, YES have just begun working on their next record, but Downes also came up with "Electronica", another instalment of his NEW DANCE ORCHESTRA. With much more brewing up under his fingers, we discussed the latest events. INTERVIEW”
“Something Else! Interview: Geoff Downes on new albums with Asia + Yes, and learning from the past”
“Today, in between his work with Asia and Yes, Downes finds time to work on other projects as well. His most recent, New Dance Orchestra’s “Electronica” features the phenomenal vocals of Anne-Marie Helder (Panic Room, Mostly Autumn) and utilizes sounds from the latest computer technology. The result is a collection of virtual orchestrations that defy standard definition. Blending elements of classical, new age, pop and electronica, Downes uses rich textures to take the listener on a journey of spiritual enlightenment. INTERVIEW”
“Geoff Downes Interview:YES/ASIA keyboardist diligently creates without barriers”
“New Dance Orchestra is the name of a project that consists only of two people. The mastermind behind this story is certainly Geoffrey Downes , who not only all twelve tracks in collaboration with Glenn 'Ben' Woolfenden written, but has recorded and produced all instruments. In addition, the Welsh singer Anne-Marie Helder , which previously perhaps best by the band Panic Room , but also by Guest Posts for Wetton Downes is known. Together, an album was quite deliberately added, which should be especially suited to one: namely to dance.”
“The adventure of this electronic band reduced in our sole keyboardist continues today with Electronica , where Geoff Downes enlisted the services of Anne-Marie Helder ( Panic Room ) on vocals. album originally recorded in 2010 and distributed previously through merchandising "of YES" Electronica is finally released officially in 2013 and presents a collection of twelve songs instrumentation fully insured through keyboards Geoff Downes.”
“The artist may have opted for a return to returning to sounds near the time of the Buggles. Still, this album shows another face of this great musician. As you make your own choice and Merry Christmas anyway!”
“Geoff Downes and Anne-Marie Helder release collaborative album, ‘Electronica’, under the name ‘New Dance Orchestra’”
“Yet this record is as modern as it gets, and its “I’m alive” motto blows off any notion of electronic music as a life-lacking effort. So yes, it’s pop – short for “popular” – one of the highest standards.”
“The new album, Electronica, is a collaboration between Geoff Downes and Anne-Marie Helder and has been released by NDO Records, via Cherry Red, on both CD and Download.”
“Downes has got to be one of the hardest working men in music today. Along with his commitment to Yes, he and his colleagues in Asia have just release their new album, Gravitas, a memorable collection of songs that once again highlight the special songwriting tandem of Downes and bassist John Wetton. Geoff was kind enough to talk to us via email about Asia, Gravitas, being on the road with Yes and much more”

“The album’s unique mix of dance and pop along with Helder’s award winning melodic vocals, gives listeners a unique blend on genres not easily pre-judged or ignored. The album has the potential to appeal to all age ranges and music tastes, yet does not confine itself to any one taste, feel or genre nametag.”
“Electronica is the result of a collection of carefully crafted songs using these orchestral treatments on each individual track in different ways.”
“Thank The Lord for Geoffrey Downes”
