Gary Wheeler was born a fifth generation musician, growing up singing four part gospel hymns. After receiving a gift of a toy guitar from a family friend, my father rather sarcastically told me if I "wanted to play guitar, then learn how to do it like this guy", and handed me a "Chet Atkins Plays Alone" album. So after listening and learning the first song on the album note for note (Malagueña), I played it for my father after which he bought a decent classical guitar for me. I started playing bass guitar/upright in highschool, as well as flute and saxophone. 40 years later, I'm still jamming on anything that makes a sound, and writing/recording every chance I get to spend some alone time in the studio.
