About the Artist

Music has been an integral part of my life since the very beginning. Growing up, I was surrounded by music. My father, who was a music enthusiast himself, would play Rick James when my mother was pregnant. I remember moving to the rhythm of the music. In 1986, I started buying bootleg tapes from the flea market on weekends. I would return to the neighborhood as the first person to have the latest tapes from artists I saw on limited video channels and heard on the radio. Despite my grandparents’ attempts to throw away the tapes, I would retrieve them from the trash or even go back to the flea market with my chore money to buy another tape of a different artist. My favorite artists at the time included the Fat Boys, Kool Moe Dee, Heavy D, and Boogie Down Productions, among others. As I grew older, my musical tastes evolved. Throughout the years, I’ve listened to music but never pursued formal music education or learned to play an instrument. One day, I came across a video of a production team called the Heatmakers on a come-up DVD. It sparked my interest in music production, and I decided to buy a beat machine the next day. It took me a few months to learn how to use it, but I’ve been dedicated to working on music as a hobby in my free time ever since. People often ask me what inspired me to pursue music. The answer is simple: I’m in love with music. It’s always been my first love, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.ll
