MOTH NOR RUST

MOTH NOR RUST is an electronic-prog-fusion band with a powerfully innovative sound. We were the band-in-residence of the surrealist cabaret theater, OmniCircus, for twenty years, first as DeusMachina, then as MOTH NOR RUST, until the unfortunate demise of OmniCircus during the Yuppie Millionaire Invasion of 2012. MOTH NOR RUST combined music and performance art with state-of-the-art physical robotics, both on stage and in "guerrilla theater" on the city streets... plus surreal performance art and real-time computer-animated virtual puppets, forming a unique industrial-surrealist cabaret experience. Frank Garvey is currently touring the US as a solo artist, based out of Champaign-Urbana Illinois, (where his Dad started the renowned Jazz Dept at the University of Illinois, and produced and conducted the epochal large scale multimedia works of world-fusion genius Harry Partch.) We created the feature length musical dramatic cinemawork WALL OF ASHES starring Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs), Vivian Davis (Wacker Drive), Jack Wallace (The Bear) and Jim Burkhart (MUNI). The ROBOT ENSEMBLE of the OmniCircus is an ever-growing mechanical Red-light District, a group of sophisticated life-sized robotic performers who appear in OmniCircus productions and on their own in the streets of San Francisco and elsewhere. This ensemble is the creation of a team of mechanical artists and engineers with Garvey as artistic director; including Carl Pisaturo, Jeff Weber, Aaron Edsinger, Todd Camill and Eric Kenyon, as well as the formidable machinists at the Carnegie Mellon University Mech-E machine shop.
