As of 2015 I have been a bass player for 21 years, a guitar player for 18, and a singer songwriter for 10 years. I have played in bands that span the genres of Jazz, Rock, Funk, Gospel, Big Band, Afro Beat/High Life, Folk, and dabbled in various others.
I am from Toronto, ON, Canada and moved to California in 2008 where have soon found myself mixing it up with some people in the Santa Cruz music community, I grew up in a house where music was super prevalent due to my father being an accomplished jazz and R&B bass player who graduated from the Royal Ontario Conservatory of Music, In fact, my first band was at 14 years which was a jazz quartet my father and high school music teacher put together to play for various events around the school district.
I'm influenced by many artists but growing up I was greatly shaped by the playing of Jaco Pastorius (Weather Report), Flea (red Hot Chili Peppers), Stuart Zender (Jamiroquai), Stevie Ray Vaughn, Andreas Segovia,, just to name a few.
I've played on numerous recording backing up solo artists in the Toronto area for number of years before moving to California.
A quote that has always stuck with me as a musician was said by Jaco Pastorius: "Don't think so much. Just concentrate".
