“Kenny Metcalf as Elton is truly top notch. He & his band are the utmost professionals & their ability to get a crowd energized & excited is amazing. I’ve had the pleasure of booking Kenny on many occasions. His LIVE National TV performance on AXS TV’s The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands was so good that he was invited back for a second show! When he performed at The Hollywood School House for their charity gala, he had the crowd on their feet including celebrity guests like Caroline Rhea & David Chokachi, & not to bury the lead, but when Kenny Metcalf did a private birthday performance for Academy Award Nominee Amy Adams, a party guest literally gasped “ Oh My God Elton is here!” before being told, “nope it’s Kenny Metcalf!” Whether your event is for 50 people or 15,000 the showmanship of Kenny Metcalf as Elton is exactly what you need to book. The band's gear is authentic, their sound is uncompromised & their dedication to their product is sincere. Book Kenny Metcalf”
“Another incredible show at Montgomery Village! Thank you for setting the standard for entertainment at the Montgomery Village Concert Series each year! Mike Waterman 102.7 Wolf radio, Santa Rosa, CA”

“Saturday 1/25/14 ELTON JOHN tribute: Kenny Metcalf as Elton and the Early Years Band featuring Bobby HQ Storm (Bass), Mark Servi (Guitar) & Josiah Servi (Drums) performed an unplugged set at the Grand Illusion Piano Shell booth. Not only did the crowd get into it by singing along and dancing, but the surrounding booths chimed in with their instruments backing up the band with cymbal crashes, synthesizers and a Hammond organ. Songs included were Funeral For A Friend / Love lies Bleeding, Harmony, Benny and the Jets and Take Me To The Pilot. The crowd was so into it that the sound patrol had to come over several times requesting the band to keep it at the required decibels. How can you control a good time? Lol. The bands next performance was at ANVIL Cases where Mick Jagger impersonator (Mick Adams And The Stones) and Freddie Mercury impersonator Greg Finsley (Queen Nation) joined in. The crowed was in amazement!”
“Best LIVE performance of 2013! Taking #1, Kenny Metcalf as Elton (The Roxy & AXS TV) – April 15 – This performance truly put the band on the map. Not only did he nail every Elton tune he played, but he also brought the real Caleb Quaye to the show to do a duet with his younger self. It was an amazing performance and set the bar high for every other tribute band. Don’t miss seeing him live.”
“Corona, CA — “That’s as close to the “real” Elton John as you’re going to get” said one concert-goer as he left the “Elton– the Early Years” show last Saturday at M15 Concert Bar & Grill. Tribute bands come and go. Some do a credible job imitating the band they are paying tribute to….some don’t. And then there is Kenny Metcalf as Elton John. First of all, Kenny is a superior pianist in his own right. Secondly, he happens to bear similar physical features to Elton John. And thirdly, he has trained his voice to sound exactly like John’s. By surrounding himself with an exception cast of musicians and viola!…. You have Elton—The Early Years. This was a memorable night and a special show by a tribute band that lived up to it’s name and reputation and then some.”
“From the opening chords of Benny and the Jets through the amazing final notes of Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Kenny and his band made believers out of not only the live audience, but also those watching the show on AXS TV, which included original members of Elton's band like Davey Johnstone. But Kenny saved the best for last, topping everything he and the band had personally accomplished and setting the bar for all the bands that would follow his performance. As the last notes of Pinball Wizard evaporated and the first notes of Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting began, Kenny stepped to the microphone and introduced the appearance of Elton's producer and original guitarist Caleb Quaye! Caleb's stirring performance put the exclamation point on a perfect evening in tribute to the music of Elton John.”
“The guy IS Elton John…in a sequin outfit sporting a Dodgers baseball bat and logo on his sequinned jumpsuit. It’s astonishing… he appeared to have the energy, flamboyance and remarkable talent of the early Elton John as he hurried to the grand piano. He waves to his adoring fans as the opening number prepares him for his first song as Elton John. Elton -The Early Years is a show that is not like any of the other tribute show… This tribute band really has captured the early sounds og Elton John as he was rising to superstardom. Every detail of Elton – The Early Years "Kenny Metcalf As Elton" tribute show has been painstakingly recreated even down to all the band wearing costumes to recreate that image of the 70′s of an Elton John Show. They have also gone so far as to recreate each song to sound as if you were listening to the vinyl. It’s like watching Elton at the Troubadour in smaller halls, but also like seeing him in stadium concerts when they play festivals and fair”
“AXSTV's The Worlds Greatest Tribute Bands, Hosted by Katie Daryl, she did the show’s introduction just before Kenny and the band took the stage. Within a couple of songs, I actually felt like I was at an Elton John concert. And unlike a lot of tribute bands, I didn’t have to close my eyes to imagine that. His tribute to early Elton John was phenomenal. “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, “Tiny Dancer” and “Pinball Wizard were the standout tracks. In addition to rocking out to a lot of the popular hits, there was a special appearance by Caleb Quaye, Elton’s original producer and lead guitarist. That was a fantastic moment to an already incredible show. The entire band was on fire. And the sound was incredible. Those amps sounded really hot. I’ve already watched the AXS.TV airing several times on my DVR since seeing the show live and I’ll definitely check it out again.”
“ I recently had the pleasure of seeing Kenny Metcalf perform his show Elton – The Early Years at NAMM 2012. I was amazed at how well he does Elton, he sounds just like him vocally and his piano playing and stage antics, along with an excellent band are so accurate you wonder if you haven’t been transported back in time to some of the historic concerts such as Dodger Stadium in 1975! For any Elton John fan that likes to take a trip down memory lane and visit Elton’s music of the early 70’s, this is the show to see! It brought back some fun memories for me as one who was there from the beginning! -Caleb Quaye ”
“NAMM 2012: Elton - The Early Years: The incomparable, Kenny Metcalf, took the Elton John tribute band experience to a whole new level on Saturday, the 21st, at the John Lennon Educational Bus Tour Stage. Kenny utilized his infectious stage persona, outlandish costumes and unmatched vocal impersonations of the Pinball Wizard himself. He takes you through a lyrical stroll down memory lane when Elton John was the king of pop. You will need to look twice and may even shake your head in disbelief before you realize he's not the real EJ, but still we fondly refer to him as "Kenny and the Jets". See this talented artist in action at www.eltontheearlyyears.com. ”
“Two weeks ago at the NAMM show in Anaheim there was a plethora of musical talent. The range was gargantuan. One, however, which piqued Beacon Media’s interest was the Elton John tribute band starring Kenny Metcalf as Elton. "The guy IS Elton John" It’s astonishing… he appeared to have the energy, flamboyance and remarkable talent of the early Elton John”

"I've seen hundreds of tribute bands -- from Abba to Zeppelin -- and every band in between. I've caught tribute shows in L.A., New York, Las Vegas, and San Diego. After seeing Elton -- The Early Years last night...I put them in the top 3".
"Elton John tribute to rock Escondido this weekend" Elton The Early Years is a tribute band that perfectly captures not only that original voice, but the charismatic stage presence, thrilling performance and outrageous costumes of the musical genius at his initial peak. The star, however, is lifelong musician Kenny Metcalf, who channels Elton so well that you will forget he is not really the icon himself.
"CNN iReport — John Lennon's 70th birthday at Club Nokia at LA Live To put it simply, this was one of the best tribute shows I have ever seen in my life. "Elton John" (Kenny Metcalf of the tribute band "Elton - The Early Years") came out to sing "Whatever Gets You thru the Night", from John's 1974 Album "Walls and Bridges". "Elton" also did his 1982 hit "Empty Garden", " Al Mealey - CNN Ireport Oct. 10, 2010
