Musical style and influences:
Echoes of Savages has played genres like hard rock, funk, heavy metal, alternative metal and progressive funk rock. Drummer, Rob Mulhall, was asked what the band defined their genre as: “I’m not sure really. Sometimes we will come up with songs that sound like old Red Hot Chili Peppers, then another idea will sound like Pantera, then the next idea will sound like Clutch or Primus so I guess we just keep trying to blend all of our individual influences together.”
According to friends of the band, Echoes of Savages became one of the rising acts in the local Atlanta music scene by promoting the hell out of their shows and playing an aggressive blend of bottom-heavy riffs with soulful melodies and a rhythm section that will blow your mind.
The band’s lead singer, Tony Watts, has been praised for his wide range on vocals. Being more flexible than most hard-rock vocalists, using unique melody phrases with large interval jumps. He has a fairly distinct voice for metal.
A major part of Echoes of Savages sound has always been bassist Phil Balzer’s heavy blend of slap, punk rock style mixed with guitarist Glen Eaton’s empowering soulful riffs and drummer Rob Mulhall’s alternative blend of funk and metal style.
