Honest Abe
Abraham Benjamin aka Honest Abe is a Brooklyn, New York native. Made his debut on the poetry scene in 2007. He is an Author/Poet and also a musician. He released three books of poetry, “Unlocked Thoughts of a Prophet’s Temple: Humble Beginnings” (January 2012), "Cussing A Curse With Worse Verse" (December 2013), And now, "Spoken Soldier: The Honest Abe Movement" (2014). He also has a CD, released July 2011, called “Brooklyn’s Lost Son: Prelude to the Road to Redemption.” To his credit, he has had his work published in college art magazines, a poem featured in English curriculum at his old almamata, NYC city Tech in Brooklyn and feature collaborative Spoken Word albums. He has progressed as a Spoken Word artist, featuring in such venues as Time Square Arts Center, The Nuyorican poets cafe, Bridgeport Innovation Center, The Brooklyn Book Festival and the Harlem Book Fair. He has also won back to back collegiate slams at the Bowery Poetry Club. His most recent endeavors includes a feature at The Black Poetry Café Poetry fest (2013), a televised feature on "Poetry TV presents The Cypher’s Den" via Bcat. (Executive Produced by Eric “Crow” Draven) And is currently working on new book and album and other projects to be announced and ready in the near future.
