Guitarist, singer, songwriter, Drew Yowell has worked with legends like David Lasley, Desmond Child, Dae Bennett, and Herb Alpert, and he has played guitar alongside Sophie B. Hawkins, James Maddock, Will Lee, among many others. Drew and his twin brother Doug Yowell (drummer for Joe Jackson, Suzanne Vega, Duncan Sheik, Sharon Corr, and many others) both appear in MTV music videos, such as Sophie B Hawkins’ “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover.” A close, regular collaborator of the late legend Phoebe snow, Drew also co-wrote two songs with her, including the title track to her final release “Natural Wonder," which also appears on Phoebe's 2008 "Live" release. Snow described both songs as "Two of the most beautiful songs I've ever written with anyone,”
Drew produces and composes music for MTV, VH1, BET, Comedy Central, LOGO, and Centric, as well as other entertainment companies. Through his partnership with Earshock, Drew recently co-wrote the theme song for the hit tv series Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team working with Cassadee Pope (winner of The Voice), producing her vocals at the legendary Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN.
Drew was also a Top 20 Finalist in the 2007 American Idol Songwriter Contest for the co-written song titled "Secrets and Lies."
As a solo artist - he's brought people to their feet with his emotional performances from NY to Nashville. As a songwriter - he continues to hone his craft with both solo material and songs co-written with fellow songwriters, Ari Hest among them.
The album Return Echo was produced by Drew Yowell’s brother Doug. The Yowell family has a long history in music of many genres. Gers Yowell, their father, had hosted famous jam sessions at his apartment on 136 St. and Broadway in Manhattan in the 50’s where artists like Charlie Parker, Zoot Sims, Jerry Mulligan participated.
